Story
*For want of a better phrase, I've been describing myself as a 'multidisciplinary designer'. It might not be ideal, but until I find a better way to sum up all of the varied (yet connected) work I've done, I'm running with it.
My early career started in Marketing. I graduated with a Master's in Advertising and Marketing, harbouring aspirations of joining one of the big ad agencies in London. What I actually ended up doing was Product Management for Hallmark Cards in Bradford. Less Don Draper, more greeting cards.
Ok, so not at the bleeding edge of creativity perhaps. But, a great business and a brilliant grounding in strategic marketing, consumer insights and product development.
With Hallmark, I managed multi-million pound categories and oversaw everything from strategy, through product development, to manufacturing, launch and beyond. I was part of rebranding and innovation projects and eventually Innovation Leader for Hallmark Cards Australia.
Later, I transitioned into Graphic Design. I studied at Shillington and found work in Digital agencies, getting to design websites for various well-known clients, including Skoda, BBC, Freeview & Universal Music.
Next came SPOKE, an online menswear brand where I led digital design before moving into the brand team. I worked across the website, conversion, marketing and creative campaigns.
Most recently, I've been Lead Product Designer at Artlogic, the art world's leading Saas platfrom. Alongside designing products, I helped develop the design system and ways of working across the team, as well as shaping how AI is used to prototype, test and ship better ideas.
The common thread? I like making things, solving problems and figuring out how the pieces fit together. I care about how something looks, how it works, and whether it actually makes a difference.
Outside work, I'm juggling family life and studying carpentry in the evenings (maybe I'll add that to the key skills later).
If you need a designer who can move between the big picture and the finer details, call me.
If you don't need need a designer but do need some skirting boards fitting in your house, also call me.
